26. July 2009 — South Korea, nearly didn’t get the bike into the country
So woke up during the night when two girls snuck into the cabin. No not what you think. I wish. They apparently only booked the cheap tickets where you get a mattress on the floor. So since I was the only one in this 8 bed cabin they wanted to use the free beds…
28. July 2009 — Across Korea to Pusan
While I was packing the bike the owner of the guest house came out with two fried eggs. Nice of him to set me a challenge early in the morning - try eating fried eggs with chop sticks….
29. July 2009 — Looking for shipping company
So checked out of the hotel at 10 am and headed actually just a few 100 yards down the road to the office of Schenker Logistic to see if they could help ship the bike. I spoke to Mr. Kim who was really helpful and friendly. He said this was normally not what they would do but he could check….
30. July 2009 — A bit of sightseeing in Pusan
After breakfast I got a call from Mr. Kim saying that he would need another day to check if Schenker could ship my bike. So I went to the other company to let them know that I would bring them the bikes documentation the next day. Which was ok with them.
31. July 2009 — Waiting for bike to get shipped
Still in Pusan waiting. Got an email this morning from Mr. Kim saying that Schenker wouldn’t be able to ship the bike. So brought my papers to the other shipping company and they were saying the bike would be crated the next day.
01. August 2009 — Bike crated and delivered to the port
So had the bike crated up and delivered to the port. All organized by the shipping company. So now I’m bikeless for the first time this trip. Back at the hotel I started looking into flights to Japan and after a bit of back and forth with my friend Mick I booked a flight for the next day.
02. August 2009 — Two weeks in Tokyo, Japan
Summary of my time in Tokyo, Japan. I spend two weeks staying with my friend Mick.
