Almaty with mad traffic
Set off after breaky for long drive. First 200 miles good road and the rest crap - bumpy and construction. Met Dimitry, Dimitry and Irina and other guy from Kyrgisistan on BMW 1150GS, 650GS and Honda Transalp….
Getting closer to Almaty you can see the mountains in the distance. Looks very nice. 50 miles before Almaty found Micha stranded on side of road. He on Dominator and brother on KTM 640 adventure which had front puncture. No help required from my side, so off I went. Got into Almaty by 7pm and driving in the city is challenging. Mad driving and still struggle to read signs if there are any. Had tried to reach Derrek (Canadian), whose number I got from Greg in Atyrau, all day but no luck.
So had enough and stopped at hotel. So inflexible these hotels and their 12 hour rate. If you check in at 7pm you have to be out by 7am - no lee way. So hung out for a couple of hours to have at least a bit of a lie in tomorrow morning.
