In Vladivostok with the Iron Tigers

So on the road again for the last 180 miles to Vladivostok. On a petrol stop I talked to some Russian bikers. Indeed there was a bike meeting approx. 60 miles before Vladivostok. Had lunch and thought it would be an easy 100 miles…

But oh no, first a police check point. Yeah they actually stopped me. Had not happened since entering Russia again. Stupidly I had my passport in my luggage roll. Once I retrieved it I had to go into the office where passport, bike reg and visa registration were checked.

Then I think I missed a turn and ended up driving thru Ussuriysk center. Traffic was mad and no signs so at a T junction made an instinctive decision to go left. Which was correct and it lead me back to the main road going to Vlad. Oh forgot to mention the weather was crap again. Basically constant rain from Ussuriysk onwards. So the last 40 miles absolutely dragged. Did not even stop at the Vlad sign. Just too much rain for a picture op.

Vlad is huge and dragged out along the coast. With the help of my GPS I managed to get close to Vladmoto and the Iron Tigers club house. I still took me a while and some illegal driving maneuvers. Crazy Traffic. “The Box” as its called is Vladmotos company building and at the same time the Iron Tigers club house. Vladmoto imports used bikes from Japan and USA and sells them all over Russia.

Was shown the upstairs to wait for Michael (president). He speaks very good English and his nickname is pirate. When not on his bike he drives a Hummer H3 with amazing air brushed images from “Pirates of the Caribbean”. He told me I could stay upstairs in the box and he would help me with getting ferry tickets and one of the guys working there could help with fixing the spokes. Just glad to be out of the rain and a few days of rest.
