Left Seattle for little trip around Olympic Peninsula
Left Seattle this morning when Marsha and Brian left for work. After filling up the bike and getting coffee and cigarettes I headed towards Tacoma. After a short drive on Highway 16 and 3 I crossed over to the Olympic peninsula…
Light rain I think mostly because of the low hanging clouds and fog. When I pulled into a coffee shop I met Aaron on a Suzuki V-Strom. He was heading to Victoria (Vancouver Island) so after a cigarette we drove the 15 miles to Port Angeles were he had to catch his ferry. I had lunch and then headed into the National Park.
I set up camp at the camp ground and then headed up to Hurricane Ridge. Nice spot above the clouds. Then headed down a dirt road to a trail head. Nice to let the bike fly on the excellent dirt road. Fun stuff. Equally fun was the drive back down on the curvy mountain road. Still amazed at how well the TKC80 tires are on dry tarmac.
Had an excellent idea for dinner. Went to the store and bought a steak and bread. After a few tries managed to get a fire going with the wet wood lying around the camp ground. I guess I’m a little out of practice since my scout days. So yummy steak and an early night.
