On goes the journey or not?

Free breaky again wink When Otto and myself got back to our hotel the power had gone. Not good when you have a room on the ninth floor. Bringing the luggage down in full gear was a pain….

While loading the bike I discovered 6 broken spokes. Not going anywhere. Getting so fed up with this. With the help of the hotel receptionist I called a guy from the local bike club to see if he could help. About 15 min later a guy shows up, has a look at the wheel and suggests Ural spokes. Yep already know this. He takes off to get some spokes. In the mean time Otto helps to take the wheel off and I manage to scrape together enough spokes to fix the bike.

The guy shows up with spokes but they still need to be cut to length and threads cut. So with Uli’s bike (me on back with wheel in hand) we follow the guy to some car mechanic shops. After 2 hours we are no step further the mechanics don’t think cutting thread will work because the spokes are to narrow. Hm, worked in Mongolia.

img 3184On the way back to the hotel we met Volker (German, Africa Twin) and because its getting late again. By now 4pm we decide to stay in UU in the hotel Volker is at. Sigh, fifth floor, no lift. Just dinner, beer and bed.

Really feel bad about causing a day delay for Martina, Uli & Otto.
