Sightseeing in Istanbul
So after all the bike stuff sorted yesterday, today was sightseeing in Istanbul. As usual it took me a while to get going. Had breakfast in a small cafe close to the hotel and then got on to the Metro. I have to say public transport is light years ahead of Dublin.
For example they have one system to pay for underground, cable car and tram. Shocking that Dublin in the 21st century has not managed to get that organized. Walked around Sultanahmet where the Aya Sofia and the Blue Mosque are. Also went to the bazaar but didn’t spend to much time there - too much hustle and bustle. Also managed to get ripped off in a restaurant - sometimes I 
can be so stupid. Anyway did not look at the menu just ordered kebab, salad and chips. Paid 20 Euro which for Turkey is bloody expensive, considering that breaky was 3.70 Euro.
Worst thing is that I did it again a couple of hours later, but I’m getting ahead of myself. Spend time in an internet cafe updating my website and writing emails. So on my way home I saw this bar / pub - The Northern Shield. Thought sounds good for a quick one. Must have been the most expensive bar in Istanbul. I mean it achieved to make me feel at home with a pint costing nearly 5 Euro. So lets say I only staid for 2 and took my time. Good thing was that I had a laugh with the bar staff. Cute waitress as well, though maybe a little young for an old fart like me 
So that was my day in Istanbul and definitely worth coming back.
