To the Ferry and leaving Italy

Quick early morning update. No more “visitors” during the night. Slept well actually. Early start though. Got woken by the sun at 5:30 packed my stuff and headed down the road a bit. Had a smoke and caught up with my journaling. Then hit the petrol station / cafe for fuel and coffee….

img 2491 Now I’m at the harbor in Trani. Nice actually. Didn’t really think so when I came thru here last night at 8pm on the main street. Bike is too heavy for stop-n-go traffic and Italian driving wink. Wonder how this is going to be in Greece and Turkey. Noticed slow sharp breaking maneuvers - lets say at pedestrian crossings - is a no go. Locked the front wheel twice which is not good on a bike as its the recipe to land on your arse.

img 2493 Send the morning in this small town just before Bari. Took some more money out and sat in the sun. The usual coffee in between. Tried to dry some of my stuff that was still wet from day before yesterday. Made it to the ferry with plenty of time. Met three Americans there and we chatted while we all four waited to board the ferry. Just had dinner and wondering if a) bike is OK. Left the tying down to the loading crew and b) if my tent is still on the bike tomorrow. Just didn’t want to lug that around as well. Have enough stuff with helmet, tank bag and luggage roll. Will keep you posted tomorrow. So next border crossing coming up.
